Summary of Cultural Attributes:
Historical: This house is located on a town lot that is part of a 200-acre Crown Patent in 1803 to Edward Goodyear for all of Lot 1 Concession 2. There were quite a number of changes in ownership as the land was divided. In 1875 and 1877, Phoebe A Clendinin acquired two ½ acre lots that became the site of the house, which she is believed to have built circa 1883. It was sold in 1889 to David J. Nesbitt, who in latter years operated a business related to canning. It then went to Albert S. Miller in 1921. In 1977, the property was acquired from the estate of Eunice M. Miller, wife of Albert, by Ralph G. E. and Vivian G. Emery and then in 1986 by the present owners, Donald P. and Kathryn E. Shanahan.

Architectural: This dark red brick with white trim, two-storey house is Italianate in style. It has a hipped roof with a prominent overhang and frieze that feature large, fancy brackets. The south side, which faces Dorman Street, has two three-window bays on the lower floor topped by single widows on the upper floor. The west side has a three window bay and a plain main entrance. All windows have slightly-arched lintels; some are rectangular and some are slightly arched. The east has an addition (believed to have been added in later years) with a front, closed-in porch with a vinyl siding façade.
