Summary of Cultural Attributes:
Historical: This house is located on a town lot that is part of a 100-acre Crown Patent in 1842 to Isaac Proctor for the north half of Lot 2, Concession 1. The relevant lot was acquired in 1882 for $160 by Alice A. Bowler, who is believed to have begun construction of the house in 1889, at which time the property was granted to Henry R. Janes and Pith in G. Kemp for $1000. After that, ownership changed about every decade and in 1945 was purchased by Oscar C. Morgan and it stayed in the Morgan family until 1968, when it was sold to Charles and Sylvie Jardine. The present owner, Charles A. Ruckstahl, purchased the property in 1985.

Architectural: This large red brick with white trim, two-storey house is essentially Gothic Revival in style. It is L-shaped with a wrap-around open front veranda across the front of # 8 and covering the main entrance of # 6. It has a peaked gable on the main front, as well as a smaller one on the center of the recessed wing. Most windows have slightly arched lintels with four-over-four panes (believed to be replacements). The soffits and fascia are aluminum.
