Legal Description: 4 Part Lot 6 RP 39R8718 parts 1 & 2
Property: House
Date of Construction: 1883
Heritage Status: Listed
Summary of Cultural Attributes:
Historical: This house is located on a five-acre tract that is part of a 90-acre Crown Patent in 1863 to William Fish for the south part of Lot 6, Concession 4. Twenty years later he sold the property to Samuel Weller, who is believed to have built the house in 1883. The property belonged to Samuel McColl from 1906 until 1948, and from that date until 1994 by Allen E. Brown. In 1999, the tract with some out buildings was acquired by the present owners, Shirley J. And James H. Cummings.
Architectural: This 1 ¾ storey, house is typical Ontario 19th century Gothic Cottage style - a rectangular shape with a central wide front entrance topped by a peaked gable with a gothic window below (believed to be the original). The lower floor doors and windows have a slight arch over brick. Although it is believed to have been red brick, the facade is now white stucco.
