Death*: 29 January 1975; Golden Plough Lodge, Cobourg, Northumberland Co., Ontario; "Walter J. Reycraft Passes at Cobourg, He Was 86 Years of Age - Walter J. Reycraft, a resident of the Golden Plough Lodge, Cobourg passed away Wednesday, January 29 in Cobourg District Hospital. He had been ill for four weeks and was 86 years of age. Born in Cramahe township in 1888, he was the son of the late William Reycraft and the late former Maria Beamish. He had been a resident of Northumberland County all his life. Mr. Reycraft was a former Elder and choir member of the United Church. He was also a member of the Orand Lodge in Codrington. Mr. Reycraft was married to the late former Mattie Phillips in Orland September 1st, 1915. He was predeceased by his wife 11 years ago. He is survived by two sons, Harrison of Bowmanville and Garnet of R. R. 2, Castleton and by one sister Lillian of Detroit, Michigan. He is also survived by two grandchildren. He was predeceased by one brother, Charles, and by three sisters, Minnie, Mattie and Etta. Funeral service was held at the Allen Funeral Home ,Warkworth on Saturday, February 1, 1975. Rev. George H. Lavery of St. Paul's United Church officiating. Interment was in McPhail Cemetery, Brighton Twp." per Death Notice of Walter J. Note: circa 1915; Ontario; "You will note that their name is spelt with an ‘E’. Some place in time the spelling changed to Raycraft. Walter at some point found out that the proper spelling is Reycraft when his ancesters came to Canada from Ireland and so he and Mattie and Garnet all corrected their names. For some reason my dad, Harrison, decided not to change his. This explains the variations on the tombstones at McPhail Cemetery." per email from Paul Raycraft, Aug 16 2014.9

Note: Several things here: Surname spelled Raycraft - Walter used Reycraft, at least later life - when did that start? Age 30 is 5 years off?? Mattie Pearl - as is 8 years off and born USA??? Why is Gordon not with the family here??? Garnet born later than 1921?7
