- A letter from the Rastafarian leader Samuel Elisha Brown reprinted for the Caribbean Monthly Bulletin. It describes the state of persecution against the Rastafarian movement in post-independence Jamaica under the Jamaica Labour Party. The CERLAC Resource Center has a complete collection of the Caribbean Monthly Bulletin issues from 1963 to 1985. The Bulletin was published by the University of Puerto Rico.

- The Jamaica Labour Party (JLP) is the leading conservative political party in Jamaica. Founded by Alexander Bustamante in 1943, the party represented the electoral wing of the Bustamante Industrial Trade Union. After Jamaica gained independence in 1962, the party assumed office and governed the country for a decade thereafter.
