The People's National Party (PNP) is the leading social-democratic political party in Jamaica. Founded by O.T. Fairclough and Norman Washington Manley, the PNP emerged from the British West Indian labour uprising as the oldest political party in Jamaica. It governed the island on a "democratic socialist" agenda from 1972 to 1980.
