- Description
- This article addresses the sexual abuse that nuns have experienced at the hands of priests and misionaries. It begins by stating that the Vatican has recognized the violation of nuns across 23 countries, based on a document presented by María O'Donohue and Maura McDonald. While no denunciations about the abuse of nuns by priests have been made in Nicaragua, recurring incidents of priestly sexual abuse of underage girls are known but not publicly discussed. The author argues that priests have to be held accountable for human rights violations.
