You are the anchor of your community. When there are community problems, you are usually the first to know. You know the members of the community. You do a lot of work in keeping up the friendly society, the church, the community coun- cil, the parent/teachers association - all the commun- ity organisations. You do most of the political hard work - keeping your political groups and other organisations alive, planning functions to raise funds, Canvassing and so on. All through our struggles - slavery and colonialism right up to now - women have been playing a key role, suffering under oppression, but struggling alongside the men for freedom, encouraging the rest of the family to keep struggling... and making sacrifices for the children.
