- Description
- In this article that surveys the record of women's rights in the Caribbean, the author suggests that, despite the significant advances made during the UN Decade for Women (1975-85), women remain "largely marginalized and deprived" in Caribbean societies. The author interviewed leading scholars on Caribbean womanhood to determine the limits to gender equality and how they emerged from the history of slavery, colonialism, and capitalism.
