- -metal cylinder; one end has protusion of wire mesh; one side of cylinder has a column of horizontal black plastic bars, small vertical opening near bottom with labels: "10/0/5/db down at 100 cps"; metal tab extends from bottom attached with a rivet to a metal base; base has black plastic on/off switch with manufacturers' plate attached over it with 2 screws, reads in part: "[?]/DYNAMIC/CARDIOD/HI-2/LO-2/…"; bottom has one opening, threaded inside and one protruding metal tube with 2 threaded rings that screw onto it, one at the top and one at the bottom, black rubber coated wire extends from end of tube ending with a black plastic cylinder with 3 holes in the end and 2 metal bars protruding from the side which can be depressed; white sticker affixed to side of metal base reads: "KENT COUNTY BOARD/OF EDUCATION/EC"
- first school built at corner of Murray and Prince streets in 1855, known as Chatham Grammar School
- 1870s school was turned into a high school
- 1887 school obtained collegiate status
- September 1940 the building on site today was opened
- spring of 2002 school (Chatham Collegiate Institute) was slated to be closed a campaign to keep it open lasted one year and school finally closed in spring of 2003
