- (A) wooden base; round; bevelled edge; painted black; white hollow hemisphere nailed to wood; semi-circular notch cut out of top edge; 2 nails stick up on edge to secure (B); outside of hemisphere has red arteries painted; small white protrusions on back; red rectangular protrusions (L-8.8cm, W-7.9, H-4.2)
(B) hollow hemisphere; white; red arteries painted on outside; red rectangular protrusions; semi circular notch cut out of front; two holes on edge receive nails from (A)
(C) hollow hemisphere; painted brown; white circle on inside and out; grey, orange, cream painted veins (D-7.2cm, H-3.2cm)
(D) hollow hemisphere; hole in centre; painted around hole to look like a blue eye, cream ring around blue; brown ring around rest of hemisphere; red painted veins (D-7.2cm, H-2.9cm)
(E) flattened sphere; crater on top surrounded by radiating ridges; clear; white circle on back; cream lines, veins and arteries radiate from white circle; transparent cream paint radiates from circle, fits into (C) & (D)
(F) flattened clear sphere fits in crater of (E)
- anatomical model of the eye used for teaching science
- first school built at corner of Murray and Prince streets in 1855, known as Chatham Grammar School
- 1870s school was turned into a high school
- 1887 school obtained collegiate status
- September 1940 the building on site today was opened
- spring of 2002 school was slated to be closed a campaign to keep it open lasted one year and school finally closed in spring of 2003
