- (A) bell shaped; large circular opening at one end; other end is tapered; band around tapered end has handle; underside of handle has button to press to make megaphone work;inside has a cone shape projection in middle with "CCI" handwritten vertically in black; "MIMCO/PATENTS APPLIES FOR" on inside; at tapered end is a rectangular box where batteries are inserted; attached to side of box isyellow paper with instructions on how to insert batteries; clamps on either side to secure (B); "CCI" written in black on outside
(B) cover for battery box; mouth piece with small holes at end; attaches to (A) with screwdown clamps; white sticker on back with black print reads in part: "KENT COUNTY BOARD/OF EDUCATION/[?]" (L-18.9cn, D-11.5cm)
- first school built at corner of Murray and Prince streets in 1855, known as Chatham Grammar School
- 1870s school was turned into a high school
- 1887 school obtained collegiate status
- September 1940 the building on site today was opened
- spring of 2002 school was slated to be closed a campaign to keep it open lasted one year and school finally closed in spring of 2003
