- Allied Victory Medal and British War Medal complete with ribbons, named to Private John Henry Rotto Mears (d- 3.5cm)
- engraved around edge of each medal: "823546 PTE. J. MEARS CAN. INF. WKS. CGY."
- John Mears was 43 years old with a wife and five children when he enlisted for overseas service in 1916. Mears worked at International Harvester at the time that he joined the 142nd Battalion. He was sent to France where he was posted to the Canadian Infantry Works Company.
