- Final issue of the Merchant (Sept, 15 1876) contains an editorial special; "our last arrangements have been entered into, by which the MERCHANT will be incorporated with the Statesman. Arrangements have also been made for improving the Statesman, in both matter and appearance, and the determination is, to make the paper worthy the confidence and support of every Reformer in the Riding. Next week, the Statesman may be expected to make its departure."
