Bowen. who is attending the Imperial Conference, Ottawa, spoke for some time, very clearly outlining the object o! the present conference. Mr. Elliott con- gratulated the members on the very successful meeting and in his usual style gave a splendid record of the Provincial Government in its differ- ent departments. Mr. Slaughter gave a very inapiring address on Ed- ucation from the viewpoînt o! ouri Provincial system. A very hearty vote o! confidence was given in the leadership o! our Premiers. Hon. R. B. Bennett and Hon. Geo. S. Henry, before the close o! the meeting. OBITUARY 1.ý Factory Clearance iSamuel Elford Souch, Stettier, Alia. The death o! Mr. S. E. Souch on Thursday, July l4th, was keenly re- gretteci by ail citisens of Stettler and community, wbere he had Veen a resident for the past twenty-six years. Although he had reached the ripe age of 83 years, he had been in good health Up to a few weeks ago, and f or the past three weeks had been receivlng attention at the Municipal Hospital. Advancing years had taken their toil, however, and heart weakness was the immed- iate cause of bis death. The late Mr. Souch was born on a farm near Enniskillen, Ontario, in July, 1850, bis parents bemng William and Dorothy El! ord Souch, who were pioneer settlers of that prov- ince. On September l8th, 1874, he was married to Harriet Permilla Bradley, who survives him, and on September l8th, 1924, the 5Oth wed- ding anniversary of Mr. and Mrs. Souch bad been celebrated in town. Mr. Soucb farmed the old Bradley homestead, near En! ield, Ontario, for 29 years, and then retired to the town of Bowmanville to reside. Inx 1903. bowever, he followed his sons ta Alberta, and settled in Stettier in 1906, where he was an esteemed res- ident for the past twenty-six years. Besides bis wife, he leaves a f ar- ily o! three sons and one daughter, Bertram F. o! Medicine Hat; Mark H. and Gordon o! Edmonton; and Dorothy (Mrs. E. Sarvis) o! Sumac, Washington. Also one brother, C. W. Souch o! Hampton, Ontario, and three sisters. Mrs. C. Pearn of New Westminster, B. C.; Mrs. Laura Pye and Miss Eva Souch o! Enniskillen, Ontario. Also fourteen grandchild- ren, six boys and eight girls. The funeral services were held in the United Church on Sunday, July l7th, at 2.30 p. m., and interment took place at Lakeview Cemetery. The offciating ministers were Rev. A. D. Richards and Rev. J. F. Woods- worth, former pastors o! Stettler Methodist Church, o! which the de- ceased was a member of the quart- erly board for many years. The funeral was one o! the largest held f rom the church, and the beautiful fTowers testifled to the esteem lin whîch the deceased was held by, the citizens o! the town. The officiating ministers paid many affecting tributes to the de- ceased and he departed tis hf e f ull o! years and honors. For many years he had taken an active part in church work and had been a member o! church boards for sixty years, formerly o! tlit Methodist Church in Bowmanville and Stettler, and later o! the United Church. His was the illustration of the well- apent life. Friends from a distance attendlng the funeral included Drs. E. W. and Norman Allin o! Edmonton, Samuel Elford, Medicine Hat; Inspector and Mrs. McLean o! Red Deer; Mrs. James Cole and Miss Mina Cale. Red Deer; Rev. A. D. and Mrs. Richards, Rev. J. F. Woodsworth, and Mrs. H. Tanner, o!
