Hon. Mackinnon Phillips, M.D., M.C., Provincial Minister of Health, is shown on the left presenting a cheque for $14,166.67 to Melville S. Dale, Chairman of the Board of the hospital. The payment is part of a provincial grant of more than $56,O00 being made on the capital investment. This grant is being matched by the federal gov- ernment. The first game, between Kendal and Orono hardbail teams was closç and fast-moving with Kendal f in- aliy emerging the winner. The ladies' softball game waS be- tween Newtonviile and Orono with Newtonviile fine winning. Welcome and Newcastle hardball teams put on the third game with Newcastle caming from behind ta tie it up and finafly secured the winning run. All in aul it was a fine sports day with few inci- dents ta mar it. A large crowd also turned out in the evening ta dance ta the iiting music of Ruth Wiison's orchestra in W.
