In the Bantam Series thc Huskies came from behind a 1-0 score ta defeet the Cubs 2-1. Ross Williams and Irving Gi]] were the rnarksrnen for the Huskies. Ron Pollard scored early in the final period for the Cub's only marker. Four penal- ties were handed out in the geme with all four going ta the Huskies. In the second game of the Bantam Series the Cornets de- feated the Tigers by a 7-0 count. Bill Osborne xves egain the big gun for the Cornets as he scored three goals assisted on another. The other goal scorers for the Cornets were Wilbert Lernon (McCullough), Bob Richards (James), Don Osborne, and Allun Cale (Lem- on). These two teams go back et it again next Saturday m o n i g . P E E W E E In the first garne af the Pe'ý Wee pleyoffs the eague win- ning Canadiens defeated the Hawks by a 4-0 score. Ross Turner and Allen Woodhock led the Canadians ta their win by each scoring two goals. The Hawks just couldn't seem ta get their atteck roiiing as time and agein they were checked be- fore they couid gel the puck out of their own end. In the second gerne the Ran- gers upset the favoured Bruins 1-0 ta take a one gime lead in their best of three series. Don Begneil (Vanderscheaf) scored lete in the first period for tha Rangers. The Bruins tried hard but just didn't have the final drive ta put the puck in the net. ATOM In the Atom playaff series the boys came up with their best games of the season as both games had to go into over- time. In the first game the Bears and Barons played to a 3-3 tie. The Bears scored twîce in the first period ta go ahead 2-1 only ta have the Barons corne back in the final periad ta tie it up. Doug. Lane scoredl two unassisted goals ta iead the Beers attack. Irwin Colwell scored the other Bears goal. David Kerr scored twice in the final period ta tie the gante for the Barons. Brian Bradley accounted for the other Baroni goal late in the first period. Bill Depew picked up an assist on one of Kerr's goals. In the second Atom playoff game the Indiens scored in the lest minute af the overtime period to defeat the Hornets 4-3. Pat Vinish accounted for ail four of the Indiens goals. David Allison (2) and Georgc Moore picked up essists on Vin- ish's goals. Juveniles Draw 4.4 Tie1 In First Wingham Gomel In the first game of a best af five series for the Ontario Ju- venule 'B' championship thte Bowmanvilie Legionneires and Winghem drew toa-a*4-4 over- time draw. The Legionnaires were ehead 4-3 with less than a minute remaining in the extra 10 minutes but Winghamn puled their goalie and with the extra forward Ihey evened up the score. Bowmenville hed stepped into a 1-0 first period lead on goals by Ray Preston and Johin Mason only ta have Wingharti corne back in the second and tie- the score et 2-2. Bob Fairey put Bowmanville back on top but Wingharn tied it up agai before the period eilded. Batih sides went scoreless in the third. Going into the overtime Bill Cale boosted the Legionnaires back into the ciriver's seat. However Wingham's lest min- ute stretegy foiied the Bowv- manvilie attempt ta take home the first win ai the series, Bob Fairey unfortunately suffered a cut on his forehead which required seven stitche.s ta close. Ray Preston Ireceived a paintil knee injury during the gaine. Jack Gay Sets New High Single Record ln Men's Major League Jack Gay, the Courtice curve bail artist, hit the pins for a 373 single game ta lead al bowlers for high single garne for the second schedule. Doug Teyhor's 356 had been high since Jan. llth. Jack added two more scores of 162 and 300 even ta give him a total of 835 ta win the high triple ai the week. -There was sorne ather terrific scores hast week, witb Big Deve McKnight being runner-up ta Gay with 353. Jack Coole had 349, Ah Osbarne 329, Frank Semis 309, and Ken Luxton 302. Some big triple games were recorded and Dave McKnight wes again runner-up with 782, Ted Bagnell 772, AI Osborne 762, Frank Semis 757, Morley Vanstone 751, B. Milne 748, Dr. Keith Slernon 736, Jack Coole 728, Jack bander 725, George Piper 720, and Ed Rundle 704. Blain Elliott won low single game 113 and Dick Little had low triple score ai 466. Dr. Howard Rundle's teamn had high single score 1211 and high triple 3547. AIley Chatter With just one week left Russ Oke's team has won the second schedule and will bowl ageinst Jack Lander'a team, winner of the first achedule for the John M. James trophy emblematic of team championship of the men 's major league. This will take place on April 4th. In the averages, George El- liott with a 14 point adventage over Frank Lewins, has prac- ticaliy won the Individuel hon- ors. Eiliott was the winner of the first sehedule. The next two weeks will see all teams bowling for the big nioney i the playoffs. Ken Luxton is replecing Matt Harrison on Bill Polley's team for the rest of the seasan. Matt is on the sick list and the bowl- ers wish hirn a quick recovery. Enniskillen Sr. Team Heads Rural Bowlers The Enniskillen Senior and the Meple Grave teams are well out in front in the Men's Rural Bowling League. Enniskillen Sr. has 53 points and Maple Grave is close behind with 51. The next teems are nearly 20 points back. The match, which was a five geme series, was keenly con- tested and sbould be of great velue ta the Ail-Stars when they compete et the Sparts- men's Show on Fridey March 9, and Saturday, March 10, in the Eastern Canadien Teain Championship. The Ail-Stars came out on top with a very bealthy 5989 five geme total and the Select club elso turned i a nice five game string of 5841, bath clubs went ail out and seened enx- ious to gain the verdict.
