The hall was beautifully decorated witb golden linked chains. Tall standards of large mums and carnations were placed at the front of the stage and a lovely bouquet of pink carnations was tastefully ar- ranged on the piano. Tea tables witb embroider- ed luncheon clotbs, were centred witb bud vases of yellow baby mums. The long table with silver tea service. at each end, was centred witb a beautiful three-tiered wed- ding cake witb yellow and gold decorations. This was flanked- by taîl golden candles. The decoration (bride and groom) had also been on the cake of fifty years ago. Mm. and Mms. Heaslip (bet- ter known as Bruce and Olive) weme tbe recipients of inany gifts wbich included a colored television fmom the commun- ity and other fiends, a tmi-light table lamp from the "Bruce" cousins and numer- ous other gifts and flowers from friends and relatives. There has been no change in sabbatical leave, sick leave, retirement provisions and res- ponsibility allowances. Responsibîlity allowances above the salary grid are: Commercial or technical dir- ector: $2,000; major head, $1,900; minor head, $1,500; assistant to head, $900; sub- ject chairman, $500. Mileage rates have been increased from 14 cents a mile to 16 cents. Allowances for extra deg- rees have also been frozen at a $500 maximum. A Bachelors degree earns an extra $300 a, year and a Masters degree $500 but a teacher with both degrees will receive only $500. Negotiating committees from the scbool board and the Secondary School Teachers Federation representing the 417 secondamy school teachers, have been negotiating since March this year. Mrs. Mary Wiland, of 28 Lindaner St., was in the process of passing traffic in the westbound lane of Hwy. 401, two-fifths of a mile west of Bowmanville when she. lost control of ber car, passing through the median, say police.
