Men's Sinigles title went to Ernie Neilson, Men's Doubles - Bob~ Kent and Ernie Nýeilson. Mixed Doubles, Ma1~rion James and Keith Slemon. In ý the Conisolation Series Men's Singles - Bob.Gallagher, Ladies Doublesà - Doris Jennings and Bea Candler. LFLASHBACK - 10 Years Ago - One of the slickest amateur hockey teams, the Orono Orphans, took their uniforms out of mothballs to take on the N.H.L. Oldtimers, in Newcastle <Argna recently. The main scoring strength of the Orphans rested on the three West brothers, Raye (Gusty), Junior and Dean. Coach Dane Found was on the bench, as energetic as ever. A fourth West, Keith (Gramps), was unable to play as hie had injured his neck in a trotting race. KINSMEN CLUB- of Bowmanville donated swings and equipment for the Waverley Commun- ity Park. Mr. I. Mlilaniis setting up a bahl diamond there, and Bud Fanning, Town of Newcastle Recreation Director, stated recently, hie hopes to have a creative playground built at the Martin Road location. BARBARA BEREZOWSKI - a former Miss Toronto beauty qileen, and David Porter of Port Perry, placed seventh in the final stand- ings- of the World Figure Skating Champion-' ships held in Sweden last Friday. This was considered a vast improvement for the pair and most encouraging for them. WINS DRAW - Port Hope Kinsmen Panther, coach George Cawker ambled over to the Cobourg Arena recently to watch the Lindsay Trent Muskies -_ Who eliminated his Panthers from playoff conter ion on Friday -- take on the Cobourg Crugars.. After Cobourg disposed of Lindsay 7-2 in the opening game of their best-of-seven Junior C final, Cawker ambled home a richer man: $281.50 to be precise. Cawker held the winning ticket for the "Share-the-Wealth"l contest; there must be a moral in there somewhere. Incidentally, we hear that Cobourg has eliminated Lindsay from the playdowns, four games straight. Bowmanville's Don Sturrock, played goal for Cobourg for one game against Port Perry, but the OHA ruled Sturrock not eligible to continue playing. The deci.siop was to be disputed on Monday. Their team is nowv two games ahead of Niagara on the Lake with thei third gamne on Wednesday. If they win that one, they will be in the Ontario finals. Participants in the Cycle-Canada '76 Bicycle Tour will follow two separate routes. One starts in Victoria, British Col umbia, May 3. The other, from St. John's, Newfoundland, sets out June 17., The two -groups meet in Montreal, July 20. Tour organizers expect a good number of cyclists', travelling an average 50 miles a day, to go the whole distance to Montreal. Others will join the main groups for one or more of the 24 sections lasting between four and nine days. Less ambitious cyclists may latch on to a group as it passes near their homes and travel for whatever distance they, choose. It was a treat for the several hundred fans who attended the game at Darlington Sports Centre to watch how they handled the puck. In Penetang on Monday night, Bowmanville lost the second game 4-3 in overtime, so the series is ahl tied up. In the first game played in Bowmanville on Saturday, ,March 6th, Stouffville struck for the first goal at the 2:52 mark of the opening period. Defenceman Pierre St. Amand evened the count for Bowmanville when lie drilled a shot into the top corner, assisted by Chris Dreossi. The Toros went ahead 2-1 when Dreossi fired a goal, assisted by his wingers Tom McLaugh- lin and Brent Neill. The middle period was scoreless wîth both goaltenders playing extremely well.
