Wlliams, R.R.4, Bowmanville and Ron- ald Francis, son of Mr. and Mrs. A. Smith, Toronto. The organist was Mr. Terry Dawson and the soloist Mr. ,James Pair. Given in marriage by her father, the bride wore, a formai gown of Chiffon over taffeta. Designed in Empire style the gown featured f ull length sleeves, and a flowing train. The choker style collar, inU congregation. an Rev. Tizzard's theme was h, "Facing the Facts", and Kim ias Gilmer sang an enjoyable e- solo, "The Man Upstaîrs". - Two of the U.C.W. Units will 31'- hold a "Court Whist" card )ur party in the Sunday School ýng hall on Tuesday Nov. 3th at 8 ay p.m. Plan to attend. Farrow attended the Anniversary ser- vice in Newcastle United Church, Sunday rnorning and were dinner guests, after, with Mr'. and Mrs. Aif. Perrin. Mr. and Mrs. Keith Fletcher - of Downsview spent the week- end here, on Sunday all drove up to Kingsview United Church for the morning ser- vice. This included the Bap- tîsm of Stephen Charles Ken- neth, son of Mr. and Mrs. Howard Charles Smith of Oshawa, grandson of Mr.' Keith Fletcher and a great grandson of Mr. and Mrs. Ken Fletcher. Mr. and Mrs. Dean Whitney of Oshawa, parents of Mrs. Howard Smith, also ,attended the service and later all were dînner guest with the Smith's. Mr. and Mrs. Frank Gilmer visited at Viewlake, Sunday afternoon with Mr. and Mrs. Perey Rowe, wishing the former a happy, if somewhat belated birthday! Newtonville Women's Insti- tute met at the home of Mrs.- Harry Wade, Newcastle, on Wednesday, Nov. l7th and President Amelia .Lancaster opened with the singing of the "Ode", followed by the Mary Stewart Collect in unison. Secretary-Treasurer Made- lin Buckley read the report of previous meeting, and the fmnancîal statement. We were reminded that Registration and Transportation fees are to be paid for those attending Conventions, according to a motion passed, last year. 4-H Homemaking Achieve- ment Days will be held in Bowmanville, the end of this week. The date for the December meeting was discussed and'an annouincement of it will be made later. There will be the usual exhange of gifts, not to exceed $1.00 among the mem- bers. Convenor Olive Henderson presented the program. Rol Call-"Each one to tell an item of interest about their homes, in earlier days, or some of the customs" was answered by the fifteen members and four visitors present providing a numnber of interestmng and historical facts. Best man was Mr. Mai4 Bianchi and the ushers, Mr. Harvey Williams, brother of the bride and Mr. Paul Verzin. Master Christopher Evans, bride's nephew was the ring bearer. The bride's mother received the guests at a reception held in the Nightingale Centennial Hall, wearing a formal gown of flowered mint green, black accessories and a mauve throated white orchid. She was assisted in receiving by the groom's mother lnaa formal gown of yellow, with a yellow orchid. Leaving on a honeymoon in Muskoka, the bride's going away outfit was a suit oflilght grey, with pink pin check, and black accessories. Mr. and Mrs. Smith are now residiag in High Park, Toronto. Thirteen tables of euchre were played at Ballyduff on Friday night with winners- Sache Kirk, Dorothy Leth- angue, Reta Neals, Keith McDonald, Jim Propp and Kevin Preston. A Candidates' Night is to be held in BethaxIy Town Hall oni Thursday evening of this week. All candidates in the fortht-comaing election) on Mvon- day, Dec. 6th will be given aii opportunity to speak and ~express their views on munici- pal matters. t should be quite interesting with such a large slate of candidates. For dep- uty-reeve we have Fred Mc- Laughlin opposing incumnhent Lorne Curtin; for council we have incumbents Normne Pro pp, Linda McLaughlin, Lewis McGill with newcomers Tapio Mannonen, Bob Brown, Fred Marshall and Mrs. Penney. Lancaster, were supper guests Sunday with Mr. and Mrs. Jack Chard, and girls in Newcastle. Saturday evening callers, with Mrs. Iva Farrow and Mr. Reg Falls, were Mr,. and Mrs. Carl, Farrow of Toronto, and Sunday callers included Mr. and Mrs. Ken Brignail, Mélis- sa and Angela of Bowman- ville. vers Arena is to ne held la Grandview School on Monday November 29th at 7:30 p.m. The Arena Committee would like to see a good turnout for this meeting. Several local citizens were învolved la accidents over, the past weekend. On Saturday shortly after noon, Grace Fallis, Keith and Dorothy Dewar and Dorothy's brother [rom Toronto were in collision with another' vehicle at the corner of the sth uine and the Manvers Station Road. Al were takea 10 hospital by ambulance but later released.11 Keith has 41 broken ribs and the othiers several, cuts and bruises. Mrs. Leadbeater, a passenger in the other vehicle, was also injured. Marion and Herman Webb were invoived ia a 4 car pile up on Hwy. 115 near the Oasis Restaurant on Friday. Debbie Robertson had the misfortune to break her wrist in a fail and Debbie Walker was also la a car accident but was uninjured. Dean Joncas, Randy Leth- aague and Alan Fallis spent the weekend in Toronto with Ron and Brenda 'VanWieriag- en. A good-sized coagregation was present on Sunday for ou annual Thankoffering Service. Rev, Donovan Brown of Peter- borough was the guest speak- er and chose as the topic of his sermon "I1 Thank God. " Leslie Fairhurst sang two selections- "Breathe on Me Breath of God" and "Let there be Pence on Earth". The choir sang during the offering. Keith, Dewar, who was also to sing a solo, was absent because of the injuries received la the car accident. A social' hou with lunch was enjoyed.by several after the service.
