9 The Canadian Statesman, Bowmanville, December 28, 1977 YELVERTON intended for last week) On Sunday the Harvey Malcolms, Mona- and Miss Shelley Sisson were dinner guests of Mr. and Mrs. Roy Wright of Islington, another of Aunt Olives culinary delights. Lindsay Branch of U.C.O., was well represented at the Annual UCO. Meeting held in the Royal York in Toronto this week with 8 delegates and 3 staff members in attendance as well as several of their wives. The guest speaker at the banquet proved to be a most timely choice, the Post Master Generai of Canada, particularly since the Post Office was actually being picketted up the street from the Hotel just the evening before.- He proved to be a very interesting person with a keen sense of humour - which no doubt could be a very useful attribute when dealing with the idiots he is currently involved with. Pleased to renew, old acquaintances withMr. and Mrs. Sewart Dorreli of New Leskard, formerly of Black- stock. Stewart paid tribute to the Bowmanville Statesman for keeping them in touch with the old neighbourhood. On Monday those attending the U.C.O. convention were dinner guests of our popular M.P.P. of Victoria-Haliburton Mr. John Eakins at the Pari. Buildings. Following the dinner, the group sat in the gallery of the Parl. Bldg. and listened to the Question Period-an interesting facet of Queens Park dialogue. From ourpersonal appointment the M.P,P.'s acted like a bunch of overgroWn school kids with their juvenile kibbitzing and certainly could not be cited as a group to be emnulated a fine example for municipal as government to follow. On Thursday, Dec. 15, we saw a poor misguided wood- chuck cavorting over the snow with a puzzled look on his face not certain whether it was a very short winter or a mighty long faîl. Mr. and Mrs. Ray Robinson combined a House Warming and Birthday party on Satur- day evening at their resi- dence. Present on the occasion were Mr. and Mrs. Bill Donaldson of Peterborough, Mrs. Etta Robinson of Cavan, Mr. and Mrs. Bert Visee of Cavan area, Mr. and Mrs. Gordon Henderson of Toronto, Mr. and Mrs. Murray Hender- son and family of Havelock, Mr. and Mrs. RaIIph Malcolm of Don Milîs, Mr. and Mrs. Cos De Giuste of Toronto, Mr. and Mrs. Ray Wright of Toronto, Mr Ken LePmar, Mr. and Mrs. Clare Robîinson anýdMr Quiniton Rob)fInson. Not only "Tis the Season, to be Jolly" but also the season for House Warmings. Mr, and Mrs. Ross Hurren and Holly also entertained their immed- iate neighbours in their lovely new home to a delightful dinner and social evening. Present were Mr. and Mrs. Floyd Stinson and Pam, Mr. and Mrs. Dale Stinson, Danny and Jo-Anne, Mr. and Mrs. Norman Wilson, Mr. and Mrs. Harvey Malcolm and Mona, Marti Malcolm and Miss Jane Connolly. On Sunday the White Church at Velverton was extremely well attended when White Gif t service and Communion Ser- vice were combined. The Sunday School partici- pated in the first part of the service with the re-enactment of the Nativity Scene wîth the children suitably costumed to represent the various char- acters-Mrs. Oram Moore took the leaders role and Lana Malcolm contributed a Guitar Solo. Rev. Charlie Kitney of Cannington assisted Mr. Ike Lindenburger with Com- munion service and elders spoke of the work of that august body. Following a scrumptious dinner served in the Victorian surroundings of this former grandiose lth Century Home, the balance of the winning was spent in playing card Bingo, M.C.' by Earl Walkey and socializing. With such an abundance of ola p oliticians story tellhng proved to be a favourite pastime. Speaking of tali tails or should that be tales- our good wif e (same one) just present- ed us with a Dutch culinary delight-roast rabbit for dinner. Tasted like a four legged chicken. Everything fine except side affects - it affected my gait so guess Fll hop-hop-hop out to mail box and mail this now.
