Meeting opened with the singing of 'the Ode'ý and the repeating of the Lord's Prayer in unison. The Roll Cail was 'Something I have learned today on Education,' The 4H Girls Training Schoal on 'Meat' will be held on January 19 and 2th and Mrs. H. Prescott and Mrs. A. Vandergaast will again be Leaders. The Senior Training School 'Personalize your Pattern', will be February l4th and lSth and Willie Eeuwes agreed ta be a leader if perhaps Bow- manville W.I. were interested ta join us. It was agreed ta donate $50 to the Maple Grove :Board of Stewards for the use of the C.E. Hall. It was agreed ta send Valentines to the shut-ins. Mrs. H. Cryderman report- ed for the Good Neighbours. Mrs. G. Besse, Convener of Education and : Cultural Activites was in charge of the following program on "Educa- tion." The Motta "The ultimate aim of education! is the training of character" was commented on by Mrs. Besse. She said "a child lis like a blank sheet of paper and how he develops depends on his surroundings and: training. Chakracter is developed through training. Education begins in the home where consistency, love, and obedience are taught. We need discipline, integrity, honesty and knawledge ta develop good character. Lif e is a cantinuing learning ex- perience." .Mrs. C. Greenham introduc- ed aur guest speaqker, Mr. Ralph Tukker of Goodyear Bowmanville. Mr. Tukker along with several other GoulIyear people had been working at the Tar Sands for Syncrude. Goodyear developed conveyor belts ta be used on this praject. He spoke on the work carried'an at the praject, of extracting ail from the tar sands. Canadian technalogy comprises 65 per cent of the work that is carried an at the 7,000 acres being develaped. A question, period followed which proved very educational. Mrs. G. Besse moved a vote of thanks ta Mr. Tukker. Lunch of hamburg buns and topping and pickles,tea an coffee ças served bayMs Besse's Group. ELIZABETH VILLE (Intended for last week) Church services were heid at Garden Hill for the. three charges, Rev. Kennedy con- ducted the Communion ser- vices. Mrs. C. Caron, (Nancy Walker) and Mr. George Wood played guitars and Mrs. Caron sang. Mr. W. Banîster, Mr. B. Gray, Mr. H. White, Mr. Langyear, Mrs. B. Wheeler, Mrs.,M. Gardiner, and Mrs. M. Langdan assisted with the service. Next Sunday will be back ta the usual time 9:15 a.m. with three services. On Tuesday the Women's Institute met at the! home of Mr. and Mrs. H. Thickson. About a dozen attended. Mrs, B. Wheeler the president presided. The rail caîl was "why did yau join the institute and what bas it benefitted you? ". Motta - One who ceases ta learn ceases ta live. Palmer and Stanley Palmer were at Fred Wilsan's Sunday.
