It was suggested by tbe Amnerican Heart Assoc- iation that everyone be trained in Ithis basic life support, starting at tbe grade eight level. Students were sbown the very basics of tbe CPR method and were also instructed bow to resuscitate an infant, and bow to dislodge food from a -person who is choking. A course will be offered once a week in a phys-ed period f or students to take. Organiization Changes at GM K.R. "-his home is not going to be buîlt this year or next year - maybe the year after," commented Oshawa Mayor Jim Potticary.* "I would Say it will be another two years or maybe three before we can get this home for the aged on the road," said Councillor John DeHart (Oshawa). ,He estimated that it will cost between $6.2 million and $6.6 million to build the new facility. t would be the Region's fourth home for the aged. At last week's regualr council session, he urged that the Durham Region place 50 per cent of its general purpose lot levies in a fund for the senior citizens project. But aftejn debating the counillor's suggestion, elect- ed officials opted for a study to investigate the fijiancing and other needs of a new facility for the elderly.
