BomavileHih ehool News, Sharon Farrow BHS BOYS HOCKEY TEAM DEFEATS COURTICE By Mark Starkey 'About 600 studets from Courtice and Bow- manville High Schools came out to support their hockey teams on Wednesday, March 15 at Bowmanville Arena. It was a hard hitting, exciting game, Courtice opened the scoring early ini the first periodi. Five minutes later, Bowman- ville rebounded back with aà short-handed goal by Paul Sero from John Oudyk to make the score 1-1. In the second period, Mark Starkey scored, assisted by Wayne Whiteman to put Bowmanville ahead 2 - 1. Courtice came back with their second goal to end the period 2 - 2. Just into the third period, Mark Starkey scored his second goal from Brent Badour' and Wayne Whitemanto maice it 3 - 2 for »owmanville. The Weely SCRECHOWL Brent Badour, scored what turned out to be the winning goal,. 10 minutes into t he third period assisted by Mark Starkey and Jeff Lunney to make it 4 - 2, for Bowmanville. Courtice added a goal late in the third period but it was not enough - Bowmanville won 4 - 3. Jeff Lunney played great in net for Bow- manville. The game was filled with hard hits from both teams and it ended,90 seconds early due to somie rough play. Bowmanville won their fourth consecutive hockey cup. The win was credited to a great ali-out team effort. Gary Dusseldorp, Don Farrow, and Dan Strike did a great job refer- eeing the play. Other members of the BHS hockey team are: Bob Childs, Glen Austin, Tom Fowler, John Ayre, Jay Nimigon, Steve Greengrass, Mik-e Foser, Steye Cole, Rick Irvine, andi John Dilling. Absent were: Don King, Marc Richards, John - Bisonette, Gerald Kraayenhof, and Greg Smith. He has an M.A. in Mathematies and has had twenty-one years of teaching experience.1 Af ter graduating from High School in Trinidad, he taught for four years, then came to Canada for three years as a student at the University of Toronto. Then, after four more years of teaching in Trinidad, he immigrated to Canada. Mr. Ramdial spent one more year of schooling, nine years of teaching in Port Hope and time enough to recei.ve his M.A. before coming to BHS. There are twenty dif- ferent Math courses at BHS.- There are five fuli-time and five part- time teachers, teaching a total of forty-eight classes. Besides Mr. Ramdial, the Math Department consists of: Mr. A. Chambers, Mr. J. Lemiux, Mr. G. Nelson,, Mr. B. Cochrane, Mr. J. Kreisz, Mr. Brunt, Mr. C. Johnson, Mr. E., Saunter, Mr. D. Originally it was intended to limit the offer to those firmns using up to $100,000 a year in total energy costs. This upper limit has now been reinded. As well, the previous deadline of March 31, 1978 to undertake the program has been lifted. The Ontario Ministry of Industry and Tourism will pay 50 per cent of the costs of the evaluation and recommenda- tions for improvement up to the maximum of $1,000. The plan is one of Ontario's energy management programs being undertaken by the "ministry. The overail objective is to reduce energy use* in the province 15 per cent by 1980.
