Mr. and Mrs. Russel Larmer enjoyed a gaod visit with their son and his family, Mr. and Mrs. Ray Larmer on Sunday. Mrs. Ted Kemp hosted a bridai shower in honor of Norma Calich, Bill Van- Camp's bride-to-be on Sunday. Twenty-five, mostly of the' Van Camp clan, attended. Doug Larmer recently attended a 'Youth Parliament' in Oakville, where youth attending put into action their knowledge of the government. Wednesday evening, April l2th, Lme Annuai Shortthoriî Banquet took place at the Blackstock Recreation Centre. Close to 140 enjoyed the dinner served by the Blackstock U.C.W. Entertain- ment was pravided by Gladys Brown of Orono, who sang several sehections while accampanying herself on the piano. Dick Lovekin, a judge from Brampton, originally from Newcastle, was the guest speaker. Mr. and Mrs. Roy McLaugh- lin, Debbie and Ron, enjoyed Sunday dinner at the home of their daughter, Mr. and Mrs. David Kyte. Later that evening Mr. and Mrs. Mc- Laughlin were treated to supper at her brother, Mr. and Mrs. Walter Murphy's home in Newcastle. Both dinners were in honor of Edith's birthday. Mr. and Mrs. Larry Schry- burt and children were' delighted to have the company of Beth's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Douglas Stimson of Michigan April 15-19. Alice Stimson has been busy at the Schryburt home making items for the Blackstock Fair in August. Doug Russell and his friend Gail Lickman of Windsor were weekend guests at the home of his brother, Mr. and Mrs. Don Russell. Thie home econamist for the counties of Durham and Northumberland on behaif of the Department of Agriculture presented ten girls with silver spoons upon completion of the club., Several more received certificates and two girls had completed the course but were not eligible for the silver spoon because they were not twelve years of age. AU the girls from the 'Hamburger Helpers' had completed beautiful notebooks on the preparation of meat. This year's theme was 'Major on Meat.' Next year plans have been made for three separate courses to run from the fail. She and they called on Mr. Hyland at the Nursing Home. In the evening they were dinner guests of Mr. and Mrs. Howard McMullen, Port Perry. On Tuesday evening, Mayor and' Mrs. Lawrence Malcolm attended the officiai opening of the Oshawa Library addition when Premier Wm.- Davis was, the guest speaker. A buffet lunch was provided for approximately twelve .hundred who attended.. Mayor Malcolm and Laurie attended the Odd Fellow's Fellowship Banquet on Wednesday evening in Port Perry High School. Dr. Wm. Lyle, O.D. P.H.D., professor of an university, was the guest speaker.
