Gladys and Merril wish to thank ail bowlers for their support during the past winter and also offer their congratulations to the all winners. Friday was the final might for the mixed league. After missing the season champion- ship by one point, the MISFITS downed the other seven teams by 283 pins, taking top play-off spot. Rick and Marilyn Pearce, SMarg and Theresa MacDonald, Mernil and Gladys Henry. On Monday night the ladies came out in full force with every team trying for top place. Mfter a very tense evening of bowling the WILD- CATS took the championship, with the KENDALITES being the consolation winnens, champs: Shirley Foster, Dorothy Mercer, Doreen Neal, Helen Couroux, Kathy Mrcer, Dorothy Walker. Langstaff, Isabelle Patton, Theresa Langstaff, Linda Bull, Carol Langstaff. Men - The Johnson Fuellers took the season championship - Bill Farrow, Ed and Gord Cowling, RonSutcliff, Harry Clark and Merril Henry. The SABRES took top place-by two pins in the play-off. Allan Haldenby attended the Deanery Council Meeting of Durham and Northumberland at St. Peter's Church, 'Cobourg, on Tuesday, April 25th. Graduate David Bruce Thomas, a son of Frederick R. and Manjonie B. Thomas of Darlington Boulevard North, in the Town of Newcastle, recently completed the Bar Admission Course at Ottawa and was called to the Bar. He took some of his high school work at Kingsway College in Oshawa and completed his Grade 13 high school course at Courtice Secondary School as an Ontario Scholar. He completed two years towands a Bachelon of Arts Degree in Economics at Queen's University in Kingston when he was admitted to the Osgoode Hall Law School at York University in Toronto fromn which he _gnaduated with a Bachelor of Laws Degnee in 1976. He has joined the law firm of Ricketts, Jewell, Angus and Michael of Toronto, Ontario but will be located at the firm's Oshawa office., Community Care to Hire Three Students One of three post-secondary students to be hired by Regional Community Care, as part of its neview of service this summen, will be located in the -Town of Newcastle. According to Regional Co- ondinator, Richard Johnston, the student will work with the Community Cane offices in the Town of Newcastle and Oshawa. The grant of $6,437 was given by the Department of the Secretary of State. The students will conduct inter- views with the elderly clients who have used Community Care services and compile statîstics on the project's openations. Acconding to Johnston the information gathered will not only help Community Cane improve its service, but will provide the provincial government with important data in developing their Alternate Cane policy, and may even help the Region plan its proposed Home for the Aged outreach programme. The other two students will be located in Ajax-Pickering and Cannington. The jobs run for 14 weeks beginning May 29th.
