On Sunday she accompanied her son Mr. Gardon Cooledge and boys for dinner at the Bonfire Restaurant Port Perry. Mr. ancf Mrs. Marwood McKee, Blackstock, had din- ner recently with Mrs. Ed Lawson and Bruce in honor af their weddîng anniversary. Mr. Tom Wood called re- çently on Mr. Marvin Nesbitt. On Saturday fromf 2-6 she had a delightful afternoon when she attended a re-unian of teachers and pupils at Parkdale Public Schoal, Tor- onto. She lef t Parkdale in June 1928 (almost fifty years ago). Onîy one teacher who taught at that time and she was present. Mrs. Thompson met a nuinber of her former pupils and had a grand time visiting and catching up on their activities over the years. Mr. Travis is one of those pupils and for a number of years they have kept in touch. Mr. and Mrs. Cornelius Oppers moved back ta their home in Port Perry during the past week. The topic was given by Mrs. Frew who rend excerpts from Marjorie Holmes' excellent book, "Conversations with God". Everyone was uplifted by this inspiring message. For the program Bernice Mairs read a humorous poemn "H1ousework Can Kili You if You'll Let It,,, written by Erma Bombec. Hymn "Lead Kindly Light" and the Mizpah Benediction followed after which fruit bread and cheese were served and the usual social time was enjoyed. Jean Williams expressed appreciation to the hostess and toa ah who assisted with another interesting and inspir- mng meeting. We are called together ta work through tragedy - as christians we know that the day of dark- ness turns ta day of light. Now- adays we hear about re-incar- nation. If we are reborn many times then you and I must ask (1) who am 1? (2) What is the purpose of being many people many times in history? Jesus says that we are unique and that each persan is precious. We do not have ta be confused as ta who we are. Jesus sets aur troubled minds at rest and asks us ta trust Him. He remînds us "I am with you always". OBITUÂRY WILLIAM ETHELBERT 1(BERT) STEVENS In his loeth year, William Ethelbert (Bert) Stevens, passed away in Memorial Haspital, Bowmanville, on Sunday, April 9th, 1978. He had resided at Strathaven Nursing Home for the past six and a haîf years. Son of Enoch and Esther St evens, he was born in Usbonne Township, Huron Caunty. Educated in Darlingtan,' Hampton, and Salem Public Schoals, he was married September 9th, 1903 ta Mary Elizabeth White. A farmer for 32 years an the Brown Homestead, Lot 14, Con. 6, which was his grand- fathen's farm, he was alsa aa cheese and butter maker. He was a member of Hampton United Church af which he was an honarary eIder. Surviving are nieces and nephews. Funenal services were con- ducted by Reverend Paul Erb at the Notheutt Elliott Funeral Home on Wednesday.
