Marner in the cake. Bowmanville Figure Skating Club held their 25th skating carnival on the weekend and performed to capaci ty audiences at Memorial Arena. This group, complete with flags, led the program on the theme "Children of the World." Those taking part were: Lyn Tink, Lynn Tennant, Cheryl Anyan, Heather Anyan, Lynda Herron, Nancy Locke, Lynn-Rupa, Sue Hartford, Wendy Mutton, Jayne Stutt, Kimberly Taylor, Diane Paton, Suzanne Stainton, Donna Hogarth, Kathy Netten, Karen Gibson, Cindy Vivian, Evelyn Kennett, Darla Camneron, Tracey Dolan, Sylvia Freeman, Susan Acheson, Joan Tink. Guest skaters Andrea Derby and James Sorochan'of the Oshawa Skating Club presented a routine that left the large audience a mazed at their skill. In the Sesame Street number performed by members of Newcastle Village Skating Club there was Big Bird - Tina Bosak, Pigs - Shawna Mclnnes, Sharon Waterfall, Denise Bugden, Amie Jo Brunton, Laurie Rowe; School Girls, Tricia Stapleton, Laurie Weaver, Jody Farrow, Tammy Farrow, Jennie Lynne Brunton, Deb Kelleher, Patti E'ýerall 'and Oscar, Jeanette Collinson. 'More Fi*sherme n than Fish at Wilmot Creek Every creek and fishing hole in the area was jammed from early Friday until late Sunday as optimistie fishermen spent hours trying to haul in a good catch. This was the scene at Wilmot Creek west of Newcastle on saturday afternoon. Observers say it was even more crowded at the Goodyear dam. But the trout in large numbers that has been observed at ail these spots earlier in the week had other plans and were hard to find. Not too m 'any of the hundreds of hopeful fisherman who roamed every stream in the area last weekend were as fortunate as Dwain MacKay of Spry Avenue, Bowmanville. On Saturday afternoon, he and two pals were walking -home from, Wilmot Creek where he had landed this beauty after several hours of waiting. It was 28 inches long but he wasn't certain of its weight. mw
