PONTYPOOL When you visit the Manvers Township Arts and Crafts Show, June 3 and 4, the art exhibit of Mr. D'Arcy Proctor, Pontypool, will surely catch your eye. Mr. Proctor is a self-taught artist whose medium is in acrylics and, over the nine years he has been painting, has produced a sizeable collection of work and gained a sound reputation as a successful artist. Early in his career, Mr. Proctor exhibited at a number of small shows in Ontario, winning some prizes along the way. Encouraged by this reception of his work, he continued at his easel several hours almost every day, painting local sights that impressed or intrigued him. His first one-man show was held at The Magpie in Port Hope four years ago and was most successful, resulting in many sales. Since then, his work has been accepted by and is shown on a regular basis at Nancy Poole's Studio, 16 Hazelton Avenue, in Toronto where he was given a one-man show last October; another resounding success. Mr. Proctor describes his painting as naive. Certainly it is of the realistic school and easily understood, making it particularly appealing to live with year after year.
