4 The Canadian Statesman, Bowmanville. May 10, 1978 Section Two Celebrating His first Birthday have a perm don't walk into the first salon you see and book an appoint- ment. Shop around first. You wouldn't walk into a clothing store and buy the first dress you see without trying it on. So don't pay out your hard earned money on perm- anent waves until you are sure you are getting what you want. A high priced perm does flot guarantee you the best results. There are a lot o6f variables in perman- ent waving and an experienced stylist must be constantly studying new research in this area to, create the new curîs in demand. When you are shop- ping for a perm, go into a salon and ask to speak with a stylist who enjoys permanent waving. A good perm stylist will analyse your hair and talk with you about the type of style you wish to achieve. Don't be afraid to check a salon's credenitials, find out if they atte nd regular educational seminars and styling shows . You should know if a salon's stylists are keeping up to date or if they are still back in the sixties. Once you have found a salon you like give them a free hand in creating a style for you. Remem- ber, a good stylist is an artistand a specialist in their field, but they need to work with you, to achieve the best results. So talk to thern and let them know how you feel about their work. Committee A $3,300 plan to provide parking for Newcastle Village has been tentatively accepted by the Town of Newcastle finance and administration committee. The committee recom- mended Monday,,May 1 that the town manager, town treasurer and works depart- ment check out the details of a parking plan submitted by the Newcastle Village and District Chamber of Commerce. The Chamber estimated that parking lot plans for a site on Mill St. north of Highway Two would provide about 40 parking spaces. Lt proposed a gravel lot on property adjacent to the Bell Canada building. "We within the village area consider ourselves fortunate Favours Plan For, Parking1 la that we have not reached the stage where only expen- sive alternatives remain. We can, however, see that in time, progress wiIl eventually encroach upon the few suitable parking areas and leave us in the same predica- ment as others have found themselves," said Bob Wilsher, president of the Village Chamber of Commerce. Mr. Wilsher said the chamber's proposai for a parki 'ng lot attempts to keep costs to a minmmn. Councillor AIf- Gray said that the present parking on the main street and in the lot east of the Newcastle Village Hall is not enough. "The lot east of the hall is a very nice parking lot but you can go down there during the day and it's ful" he said. Councillor Don Allin said during discussions that it seemed to him that it was a waste to have a parking area available and not put to use: The parking scheme proposed by the Newcastle Chamber of Commerce must still be endorsed by Newýcastle council later this week. Tda y '9s Wo ma n by Beverley Martin Are you finding it easier to distinguish the girls f rom the boys lately. It could be due to the changing trend in fashions. 1.1hings like disco music anid John Travolta's 'Saturday Night Fever' are influ- tMif encing the fashion conscious people of today. They , are dressing up more often, in ruffled dresses, long skirts and tailored denms. With this change in fashion,, women are moving toward sof t curîs and waves in longer more feminine hair styles. Permanent waving is sweeping the fashion centres creating a demand for more per- sonalized perm ser- vices. In the past, when a woman heard the word "perm", she instantly pic.tured a miass of curly frizz. With odystechnology the dr frzy curl has been eliminated. If you are still Ëetting this kind of resuits with perms it is due to improper use of the product or your hair was in bad condition to start with., When you decide to ROYAL GOLO, MILO.
