Mrs. Bea Jones was among those attending the Retired Teachers' dinner, held in St. Paul's Church, Bowmanville, last Wednesday. .The Women's Institute held an executive meeting at the home of President Bernice, Milligan, last Thursday, organizinig the varlous groups and getting matters arranged, as the District Annual Conven- tion is being held at Kendal, this Wednesday, and the Sewing Class Achievement Day will be ini Maple Grove êhurch, Thursday,, at 1:30 p.m. Saturday afternoon visitors with Mr. and Mrs. L. DeSmit, included Mr. and Mrs. Larry Frost, Gary and David of Oshawa. ,Mr. -and Mrs. Bruce Green, Steven and Chris, and Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Green. SMr. and Mrs. Keith Fletcher of Oshawa, were Saturday dinner guests with Mr. and Mrs. Ken Fletcher. Callers with Mrs. Agnes Burley last week were Mr. Harvey Burley of Belleville. Mr. Steven McDonnell of Cobourg, Mr. and Mrs. Earl McEwen of Peterborough, Mr. and Mrs. Harold Burley of Bridgenorth, and Mr. and Mrs. John Scott of Newcastle. Twenty of our local Brownies enjoyed a weekend camping trip to the Ganar- aska Forest Center. Those in char~ge, included Jenny Park, Diane Rowe, Marian Knapp, Linda Nesbitt and Jean Kimball with Phyllis Knapp and Vicki Kimbai assisting. Their schedule included mnaking eight big Totem Poies (with owls and other ornaments to decorate the poles). Craft Projects, skits, etc., as well as having "Secret Buddies", and a Hike, in spite of the rather inclement weather. Meda and Hugh Stapleton were the greeters at our church door Sunday morning, when we were pleased to have members of, Durham Lodge No. 66A.F. and A.M. of Newcastle and area, attending and sharing in our service. Worshipful Master Maurice O'Neill, and Senior Warden Brother Ned Maclnnes, assisted Rev. A. Tizzard, whose sermon was based on the theme,' "Let's Keep It Beautiful." Two numbers were heard from the 4M's Quartette, namely, "Whispering Hope" and "Where He Leads Me" with Violet Gilmer at the piano whiîe Mrs. Tizzard's solo was "Did You Think To Pray? " Following the service, all were invited to attend a social hour, downstairs, in the Church Hall, arranged by the masons. Mr. and Mrs. *Donald Stapleton, with Mr. and Mrs. Arme Selvig of Port Hope, enjoyed Sunday dinner at Marie Dressler's in Cobourg (celebrating I'Mother's Day" and "Father's Day", in advance!I) Following our, monning service, Mr. and Mrs. C.M. Jones and Mrs. Bea Jones attended the Kendal service,( Sunday, where Mrs. B. Dick- son was the special speaker. Later, they'visited Mrs. Ethel Kell at Hastings and Mrs. JonCarlaw, at Warkworth.. Mr. and Mrs. Clarence '9', Paeden of Oscoda, Michigan are visiting Mr. and Mns. Wilfred Paeden, this week. Mr. and Mrs. Jack Elliott -'were visitons in Toronto, Sunday, with Mr. and Mns. * Wray Soules. * Mc.F. visitons with Mn. and MsF.Gilmen includedMr and Mrs. Sid Brown, Mr. list of Famous People, among those having had birthdays during the past couple weeks, namely Edna Grayson of Montreal, George Pethick of Pickering, Jack Crago. of Newcastle (and last but not least) Inez Boughen.
