FLASHBACK - 10 YEARS AGO - At the members tournament held at the Bowmanville Country Club on Saturday, the team of Bob James, Don Gilhooly and Lew Welsh won the low gross best bail with 73. $3,000 - in cash and valuable trophies will be awarded to Ontario's top truck and transport drivers at the 1978 Ontario Truck Roadeo Championships on Saturday, August 19, at Etobicoke's Sherway Gardens. Kevin was the only Durham Region competitor to win a first but the region captured two seconds, one third, three fourths, four sixths, one seventh, and three eighths. Finishing fourth in the senior girls high jump at 1.62 metres was Lisa Welsh of Courtice with Sylvia Ruegger of Clarke, fourth in the 1500 metre race at 4.40.0.
