OBITUARY ELSIE LOUISE ROWE Miss' Elsie Louise Rowe passed away at Nel Gor Castie nursing home on Friday, dune 9, 1978 after 31/2 years of ili health. Miss Rowe was born in Kirby, September 14, 1907, the youngest child of the late Henry and Elizabeth Rowe and rnoved into Orono at an early age, wbere she attended public and continuation schoools and the United Church. She graduated from Bowmanville High School in both academic and business courses. For several vears, Miss Rowe was Orono correspond- ent for the Canadian States- man and after the death of ber parents, she moved to Newcastle where she was employed by J. Anderson Smith Box Factory. Miss Rowe was predeceased by two brothers, Harry and Ernest, and a sister, Ethlyn. She is survived by a brother Frank, Ottawa, a sister, Violet, Thorold, nephews Murray and Irving Tarvis andi nieces Dorothy Payne, Eliza- beth Coryell and Barbara Gregory; also a large number of great nieces and nephews. Private funeral was held on Monday afternoon at the Chapel in Orono Cemetery. Rev. T. Smith, officiating. Interment in the family plot. Children attending the sehool are between five and 21 years of age. Nine members of the junior class were in Enniskillen last week and some of them, along with some of the children and aduits who helped out with thie riding are shown in these photos. Students have also gone on tours of farms in the area during other oùings. Bed must be an actual single bed no.smaller than 5' x 3'. 2. Bed must have 4 wheels - 2 on front and 2 on back. Any type wheel is eligible. A form of steering would be beneficial. 3. Bed must have a mattress, a bottom sheet, a top sheet with one human being (known as a rider) of any shape or sîze between the 'sheets. Rider must remain covered up throughout the race. 4. Motivation for: the bed must comprise of 4 people - 2 at the front as pullers and 2 at the rear as pushers. Rider, pushers and pullers must flot change positions during the race. 5. Riders, pushers and pullers must wear protective headgear. Elbow pads would be beneficial, but not mandatory, in case of tumbles on the pavement. 6. Rider must be in bed and covered up, and the 2 pushers and 2 pullers must be attached to the bed when it crosses the finish line. 7., Each bed must carry the name of the group entered'for crowd indentification. Additional names or signs are permitted. 8. Paraphanalia such as beils, horns, sirens, bedpans, etc. are permitted and encouraged provided they do not enhance motivation (e.g. a sail, if there should be prevailing wind, wiII not be permitted). 9. If there are more entrants than can be comfortably lined up across the street, separate heats wi be run with the winners of the heats running off until an overali winner is declared. 10. Heat, (if necessary) and position on the street wil be drawn by number prior to the race. 11. Each 5 man bed crew must have a'captain or spokesman. Crews cannot be replaced for each heat. 12. To avoid congestion in the starting area, pit crews must be Iimited to four people. 13. First prize wiII be $50.00 cash, second prize wiII be $30.00 cash, third prize wiII be $10.00 cash. Anadditional $10.00 prize wiIl be awarded to the best Iooking bed and crew, based on decoration, colour, and crowd appeal.
