From Confederation ta World War 1 pickle cruets or castors were favourite wedding gifts. Taday reproductions are made of them so that they too may be displayed on dining room sideboards. Cruets are basically glass containers in silver-plated stands but each one is unique in its size, shape, design, colour and type of glass. Also exhibited upstairs- in the museum is another private collection of coloured glass. Both collections can be seen until, July 4. In honour of Ontario Legfion Week, one main floor room features items from World War 1. Prominent on the wall is a colourful Bowmanville banner saying 'Welcomne Home Boys". In a glass case are letters which had ta be written on printed cards by the correspondents with a warning to them not ta add any extra information. .one such card has the "I have been admitted into hospital" ulne crossed out and the "I am quite well" line remains unmarked as the senior's message ta a loved one at home.
