But for the five or six -people wbo will enrol in Bowmanville High School's day classes for aduits the groans won't be imaginary. Struggling witb class assignments, homework and exams will be no easy feat for the adult student whose last look at a classroom was 20 years ago. 'With the heip, of the guidance department, a littie understanding on the part of familles and friends and a lot of hard work, the adult students will be able to earn HAROLD JOHN SOWDEN A life-long resident of the area, Harold John Sowden passed away at the age of 81 on Auguttt 11, 1978. .Mr. Sowden had been ill for six months and died at Memorial Hospital in Bow- manville. Son of Peter David Sowden and Victoria Louise White, be was born and educated in -Elizabethville. On June 8, 1963 Mr. Sowden married Effie Jane Gibson (Souch). For the ýpast year he and his wife resided at 43 Wellington St. in -Bowmanville. Prior to this he lived in Osaca where be owned and operated a farm. ,Mr. Sowden is survived by Mhis wife Effie; sons Reginald, Çlarence and Kenneth Gibson; daughters Gwen (Mrs.- Harold Hughes), Reta (Mrs. Ronald Gorham), -Muriel (Mrs. Ralph (Melanson) and bis grand- cbildren and great grand- cbildren. -Rev. Arthur Amacher from Trinity United Churcb, Bow- manville, officiated at the funeral service. The service wAas held at Morris Funeral Chapel on August 14, 1978.
