There was plenty of good food and entertainment. Visitors with ýMrs. Lenaý Clysdale last Tuesday, (her birthday), included Mr. and Mrs. Everett Stapleton of Orono- Mrs. Lena Graham, and Mrs. Jean Goode of Newcastle, and Mrs. Leone Lane. Mrs. Clysdale was a supperý guest with Mr.,and Mrs. Ray Tompkins, and family, and they were joined by Mr. and Mrs. Phil Gilmer later. Local ladies attew-ding the "Lucky Luncheon", held in Newcastle United Church Hall last Wednesday included, Bea Jones, Mary Jones, Inez Boughen, Janet Paeden, Dora DeSmit, Lena Clysdale and Queenie Fletcher. Spending their holidays with Mr. and Mrs. Wilfred Paeden last week were Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Paeden of Oscoda, Michigan. Other visitors were Mr. and Mrs. Harvey F'aeden, of Costa Mesa, California who are holidaying with Mrs. D. Paeden in Bowmanville. Mr. George Lou of Brechin, Scotland was a weekend visitor with Mr. and Mrs. M, O'Neill. Sorry to have left out the name of Mrs. Leone Lane from those who were enter- tained at the dinner, a week ago Sunday, at Northumber- land Heights by Mr. and Mrs. Melville Jones. The other guests were Mrs. Bea Jones, whose birthday was being celebrated and Mr. and Mrs. truce Leuty, of ýPort Hope celebrating their Wedding Anniversary. Last Friday, the Newcastle Senior Citizens were enter- tained at a Corn Roast at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Howard Cryderman, Bowmanville. Local people among the forty or so atteniding included MIr. and Airs, Ken. Fletcher, Mrs. Iva Farrow and MUiss Bernice Milligan, and all expressed their appreciation to their host and hostess for the deliciotis feast, and very enjoyable afternoon. They visited Mrs. Stacey's, cousins, Mr. and Mrs. Harry Wittynek, of Archerville, which is about 150 miles, north of Regina. Mr. Stacey visited Humboît, Dafoe and Algrove where he was stationed years ago, Other places visited încluded Tisdale, Wrenyard, Watson, Raymore and York- ton. Going out, the Staceys travelled via Sault Ste. Marie and Kenora returning home via Parry Sound, with many pictures and souvenirs also pleasant memories of the great friendliness, of the West- ern people. Altogether, it was a very nlee tdiay for ail, though the main on the trip home dampened their enjoy- ment a bit.'Almost forgot to mention they also saw a great variety of wild animfaIs, in- cluding bull and cow moose in swimming, wolves, cougars, lynx and black bear and cubs. Rev. E. Schiamerhorn, of Bowmanville was our speaker and his theme "The Church", gave us food for thought. SOON 4 STORES STRONG VAN BELLE Council To Visit Museum Town council will be visiting the Bowmanville Museum in the near future to view the extensive repairs and improvements the museumn has undergone in the last two years. At the request of the Bowmanville Museum Committee, council authonized the town manager to arrange a suitable date for the visit. "Since a number of councillors have neyer visited the property and haven't seen the interior improvements completed this year"', the committee said in a letter to council "a formal invitation to have council visit in a body might be an enlightening and pleasant experience for each inember.%'The visit will also provîde councillors with the necessary background of information needed to assist them when wrestling with town grants each year.
