OBITUARY GUNNAR OLAF ASSEN A carpenter formerly employed by Gay Construction, Gunnar Olaf Aasen died suddenly at Campbellford Memorial Hospital, on Friday, September 15th, 1978., For the past four years he lived on Bay Street, Hastings, and had formerly lived in Oshawa for maany years. Born May 27, 1909, in Mjondalenl, Norway, he was married in St. Gregory's Church, Oshawa, November 18, 1942. He was a former member of St. Gregory's Church, and was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion in Hastings. He is survived by bis wife, the former Gertie> MacDonald; a daughter, Mrs., Mario Panylo (Judy) of Little Britain; two sons, Eric of Oshawa; Wayne of Bowman-, ville; two sisters, Aagot, and Birget, both in Norway; three brothers, Chris of Port Elgin, N.B., Kolbyorn and Trygve, both in Norway; and five grandchildren, Keri, Melanie, Angela, Stephen and Amanda. He was predeceased by three sisters. Mr. Aasen rested at the Armstrong Funeral Home, Oshawa. Requiem higb mass was celebrated in 'St. Gregory's Church Monday at 9:30 a.mn.. Interment Resur- rection Cemetery. Memorial donations to the Durham Lung Association would be appreciated. Cake Auction Raises $486 Orono's Fair A number of prize winning cakes brought a total of $486.50 at an auction held Friday evening, September th at the Durham Central Fair, Orono. Fat Caif Show Ten calves were sold belong- ing to local breeders. Buyers from our local area were: Bill Bragg, Bert Werry, Ralph Porter, Crown Packers (P. Levine) and Wotten Transport Who were Co-Sponsors of the Fat Caîf Show. Other buyers were Gamble and Rodgers and U.C.O. from Toronto. The 4H Lamb sale was very popular also. Ten lambs were sold weighing from 80 lbs. to 175 lbs. Buyers were as follows: Jimm Hale, Harold Moffat, Doug Allen, Lawrence Hooey, Veto Sheep Co., A. Wotten, Steve Page, Ru'ss Dow, Patel Dnldo and5 1,ewis DeKoker. Auctioneers for these events were Charlie Reid, Clif f Pethick, and A. Wtton. The Field Crop Competition again showed much interest from the local rowers.
