Valedictorian showed us how to submerge for a f ew short hours and to fOr9 the outside world, as did varlous other parties both school spondôr- ed and private. Yes, it was' a wonderful year, I'm sure you'll ail agree witb x me there. We lived every day af it as if it were our last. Every moment was filled to its, capacity. There was something unbelevable about the year, a sort of mnagic. Per- haps evéry graduating class feels this way, but I'd lie to think that tbis feeling of closeness was ours alone. Tonight we turn the key that locks that room full of such lhap- py memories. But, we are not really saying farewell to> the school - a is always going to be hcre, just as we have known il and have lived it. Therefore we should bail its graduates. Our, commencement is only the end of an era. At the'same time, il iS the beginning of another, for where we go rom bhere is our de- cision alone. Already We have emri barked on new adventures to higher halls of learning. Repre- sented here tonight are Universi- ties, Teachers' College, hospitals and thebusiness world. The world needs professional people, doctors lawyers and teachers, but it also needs educated citizens-. Every generation bas it challenge. Our own generation will soon be taking over the places of leadership in thiS difficult world. What we learn- in the next f ew ye.ars may well de- termine the future of tbc world. And so toniglit we gradulate. We end one kind of hf e and commence a new. Our former teachers seem more like friends to us. Il is a pleasrtre to talk with thcm again, JWe now realize what they and our I parents have donc to make ibis night possible for us. Those of us graduating tonigbt f rom Clarkec High have known a number of prin cipals, Mr. Watt of Orono; Mr. Dippeli and Mr. Lucas 0f.Bowmanville. But let us salute especially Mr. Witberspoon of this sebool to whom we are so tbank- fui for his kind guidance and en- couragement during our times of need. We can recali bhis friendly reassuring smile of praise, bis lo0ok 0f disappointiment when we 'let
