At last week's meeting Eric Whyte, Chairmaný extended a warm welcome to Mrs. Mjfaude ,Roenigk, Bowmanville, Mrs. Georgina Storms, Cobourg, Mrs., Elizabeth 'Oscapella, Oshawa and Judge R. B. Baxter, Port Hope.. The Festival is very happy to have the experience and enthusi- asm of these new members. Auditions for this season are being held in Newcastle on April 5th and '6th and young people intoýrested in summer theatre should write Box 136, Newcastle or 'phone 987-4235 for informa- tion. The support of the area is a- gain essential if last, year's suc- cess is to be repeated. Everyone concerned with the development of young people in the theatre arts can contribute by offering their asistance to the Festival. TRAIL LINK-UP MOVES CLOSER A further step tQwards joining the Bruce and Ganaraska Trails was made at a meeting held in the Legion Hall at'Omemee, Sat- urday lvarch 22. J. W. L. Goering" Port Hope, ehairman of the Gan- araska Trail Association, was chairman of the 'meeting of 50 people, includîng area represènt- atives and visitors: from Lion's Head, Midland, Barrie and other centres. Raymond Lowes, secretary of the Bruce Trail Association, Paul Davidson, Department of Lands and Forests, Lindsay, and Douglas Sadier, past-president of the Fed- eration of Ontario Naturalists, each spoke on different aspects of trails and hiking. Possible historie and scenic rou~tes for the trail link, winter hiking- outdoor education and the Peterson Trail were some of the its--ns discussed following the talks. There was general agreement that joining of the two trails wvas a sound idea. One addition 1.8 miles will serve as an extenision to Bloor Street, Oshawa, representing a north - south road. This section conneets County BoadNo. 3 with the Oslhàwa eity lîmits.' A second arterial extension running north - south a distance of 2.6 miles will conneet llighway No. 2 with County Road No. 1. The road was said to run 1.8 miles fromn the boundary with On- tario County and 0.8 miles fr6m the boundary of Oshawa. A total 750 cars a day use this road. A recommendation for assump- tion in a 1964 road study, was ap- proved including a 3.6 mile stret- ch. This section, referred to as an area surface road, conneets Coun- ty Road No. 1 at Mitchell's Corn- ers with County Road No. 63. It handies 300 cars a day. The fourth addition in Darling- ton township concerned a 3.6 mi- le section connecting County Road 57 at Bowmanville's north- cru limits with, Highway 401. This was referred to as a King's Highway connector.
