Mrs. Robert Nicholîs is in Oshawa Hogpital. We wish them ail a speedy recovery. The Kendal Womea'a Institute met at the home of Mrs. Wm. Turansky on Tuesday, April l5th with the President Mrs. E. Cour- oux in the chair. They sang the Ode, followed by the Mary Stew- art Collect. T'he Roll Caîl was "Give the number ofyears you have been a member of the In- stitute'". Some were members for 32,yéars, others 20, Some couldn't lie sure. Plans were made for the Penny Sale May rd and more material given out. Final plans were made for catering to the Fôster-Mercor wedding on Saturday.. Mrs. W. Milligan of Newtonville instalied the new officers for the coming year. Mrs. J. Henderson lias aceepted the offer of Presi- dent. Next meeting wvill be at the home of Mrs. A. Foster. Mrs. W. Mercer and Mrs. M. Luxon served lunch. BakTo Sho F or Paur entsi It was back to school for some forty tnembers of the, Orono Home and School Club who met on Tuesday evening in the Gen- eral Purpose room of the school. Math-' vas the central theme of the meeting with parents being introduced to the ncw methods in teaching math. Mr. D. Moffatt outlined the' new approach to math and stated that it was most important that a student know the reasons for cer- tain procedures and that practice could then be carried out with a greater understanding. -ie also Point ed out that subjects were so arranged that individual charact- ers of a student may be observed and thus complimented. The parents then broke up into small* groups and atteaded ten minute classes conducted by each teacher of the school at the grade level i which they taught. Grade eight girls of KiÉby Cen- tennial' School are holding a Tea and Fashion show this Friday af- ternoon in the school at 2:00 p.m Twenty girls will model cloth- ing obtained frbm- local mer- chants.
