oRONO WEEKLY TIMES, TIIU;tRSDAY, MAY ist, 196e OR -"-0 WEEKLY TIMES Second Class Mail Regstration Number 0368 Pùblishied every Thutrsday at the office of publication Main Street, Oronio, Onitario. Phone 983-5301 Establislied in1 1938 by R. A. Forrester- Roy C. Forrester -- Editor and Publisher Get Your Facts Str aight, Mr. Editor In last wee-k's paper, we were critical of the United Counties i connection witli the road work being under- taken on the Main Street, It does appear that our source of information was net up to date and that a more complete job is being undertaken. With a visit from the Warden, Roy A. Foster, we were înformed that the Main Street, after the installation of storm sewers, will be paved and that further work is te be done at the soutli of the Village at the Mil Hill. The pavWng and program at the Miii Hill wiil be completed this year, stated Reeve Foster. We now understand that the Counties let one con- tract for ail theirpaving tlirougliout the County and by this means, rather than letting smàll individuai contracts, the~y are able to gain a better price for such work. We were furtlier inIormed that the Chairman of the Counties' Road Committee does fnot corne from Clarke Township tliis year. It does iappear that Mr.-Editor did jump the gun somewhat, but :an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure. Happy driving on our new thorouglifare later ths year. A Yhing 0f Beauty We ail too often take the gifts of nature for granted and are not consclous of theàr usefulness or beauty. Trees do corne in this category. This lias been vividly brought to the front witîh the reinoval of the trees on Park street whieh now lias in full view teleplione and hydro wires and cables. These latter items are certainly not a thing of beauty. Trees, in this case, were a cover-up for the accomn- plishments of man and nature was able to add its beauty and to gain prominence to the viewing ewe. While we are on the subi ect of nature and its beauty we miglit suggest an outing along one of the many hiking trais designed for your enjoymenit i this area. Two trails, a five and an eigh mile trail are well marked in the Dur- ham Forests directly north of Orono. Those interested may drive to the trails by turning east off Highway 115 at Tay- lor's Gravel pit, to a point a littie over a mile. Other hiking trails begin in Hope Township and are known as the Gan- araRska Trails. Spring car be an interesting time of year with nature coming ,to life in its niany forms. Plan now to be part of it and to realize the gift given us by the things of nature.
