It is hard to understand how parents c an ignore the plea of the Orono Athletic for coaches for at Ieast two local bail teams. It becomes even harder when it is realized that there are at least'forty-five children involved whch could well.represent forty ýfamilies andyet these children with an interest and desire are left to struggle for themselves. Surely the benefits of organized sport are mucli bet- tea than har£ýing around the town hall steps or some other focal point. Too often the children are criticized for a lack of interest and a Iack of desire but the condition that ex- ists with the bail teams is net a -fault of the children but that of of the parents. The big cry, of course, is the lack of time. This is only an excuse for the great majority, for there is time for golf, horse racing, televi§ion. fishing and a host of items de- signed and undertaken for self-enjoymnent. Nor is the lack of knowledge in the art of hall an excuse for there are books outlining in detail the approach to coaching, and a host of helpful hints. It is shameful to believe thaf forty-five enthusiastie youth in this community cannot receitie the leadershiip re- quired tô be able to participate in a healthful and gainful summer sport. Turn off that TV and make an effort for the youth of the area.
