ORONO WEEKLY TIMES, WEDNESDAY, DECEMBER l5th, 1971 O-RONO WEEKLY TIMES &-dRawMai Nibe Sl A COUPLE 0F BOUQUETS This week the Clarke Museum and Archives Society o pened their Museum located in the upper rooms of the Library Building. The group, headed by, Ir. Don Tansley of Orono, are to be commended and congratulated in prov- iding this community with another gem and a grealý point of interest. This Museum, although dealing with the past has a sense of life and displays much imagination.. The opening of the Museum now places the, stately Library Building in full use and is certainly a deserving point of interest in this commu nity of Oronio and Clarke Township. The Museumy dev lapmeýnt b oe' vn more amaz- ingwhen it is consideýred that the development has been completed to this point for a sum of less than $300.00. Much work by the Society and assistance from the general public with donations of itemns has produced, as we'have said before, another gem for the eommunity. Again may we pass on congratulations. The Kendal Eagles Br-.-eball Club which held its annual meeting last wveek is also open for some words of congratulations. They have comipleted a fine season both in play and finanicially wvhich is only an indication of a co- operative effort by everyone-. Also in this connection Mr. Charles Reid, president of the Club, is to bce cQmmended for the fine crisp manner in which hie coniducted the annual mneeting. It was one of the best conducted mneetingýs we have attended in a num- ber of years. It is tLhrough i,suchl ventures as the Museum and the Bail Club with thieir personal participation of local resi- dents, that we contend "'This is the community in which to live." LUCKY DRAW IN AID 0F CLARKE MUSEUM Tickets are stili available on the lucky draw being held in aid of the Clarke Museum whîch was openped this week te the general public. KNOW THE LAWg - Snowmo- bilers should respect the -rights of others" Sometime ago, a news article was released ceoncerning hunters trespassing on private property. Another problem drawn to the attention of the police, is that of snàwmobilcrs driving over and damaging lawns, fences, trees, and f arm property. Nursery grow- ers and reforestration officiais are reporting that snowmobiles are wiifully running over small trees and slirubs, and travelling over fields that aie -laden with small trees burîed under the snow. Local farmers have also complain- cd that snowmobilers hav e travel- led over winter crops that are to be harvested in the spring. To pack sn'ow down upon winter crops or smiall threes, smothers the plants andý results in extensive winter. kill damage. The snowmobile' drivers in mnany cases are unaware they have caused damfage, because winter growth is snow covered, and can- not be seen. llowever this is no ex- cuse.
