However about four o'clock the wind got up. Visibility bc- camne bad but the bus loads of skicrs and thc cars'got away bc- fore darkness came. Mr. and Mrs. H. S. Roberts had attcnded a hockey game in which their son was playing. They had friends with theni from Californ- ia but they could not make the ski hili so stayed all night with the McKelveys. Mr. and Mrs. M. Wagar tried to reach Kendal by the sixth Une and had to spend the night with Mi. and Mrs. Fowler. Mr. and Mrs. M. Manders were returning from a wedding they had attended at Erin, Ont. Com- ing north from Newtonville they camre to a car parked in the 'mid- dle of the road. They could flot get by so thcy spent the night with Mr. and Mrs, Jas. Stark. The big snow storm last year that blocked the roads was one week carlier in February. Those with ski-doos really enjo'yed the week- end., Anyone having old woollen to send away, for blankets please bring them to the home of Mis. E. Couroux or Mrs. W. Merrer. Anyonc living îin Orono or cIsc- wfiere is welcome to ship them with the Kendal Institute wool- lens. But please bring them soon. Church and Sunday School liad to ,be cancelled on February 20th dute to the tact that the roads were full of snow. Manders, Hlome Econ- omnics and Ilealti Convenor, chose as lier topic "Going Eaçk Sevu.nty five Years". The motto was "e inember the, Past". The roll cal]: "Name' something that was faslî- ionable- 75 ycars ago." Mis. Manders had an Eaton cat- alogue dated baek around the turn 'of the century. She quoted prices at that time of many art- icles of wearing apparel for mnen, wromen and childien. Mis. Mand- ers 'then. modelled a beautiful pink'dress sic hacl just maderep- rescnting the Victorian cra. It was complete with tucks, gathers and the bustle, Discussion was held concerning the, Womcn's Institutes 75th Anniversary tuis yeaî. An affernoon tea and antique display is planncd for a later date. Kendal L.O.L. held another card 'party Friday cvening,, cb. 18th. The prizes for the evcning werc as follows: Lady's high - Mis. K. SWEETIIEART DANCE AT ROYAL .CANADIAN LEGION Little arrows might well have been the Theme song at the iloyal Canadian Legion on Sat- urday evening. While "Old Man Wnter" huffed and puffed ar- ound the eves, with cupid xvork- ing just as hard shooting many jîttie arrows to make and break a few hearts. An atmosphere of romance ivas lielped along by hiearts, cupids, llallmark Mood Posters and v ivy appropriate music by Ray'Walker and the Royal Ambassadors. During the evening rnany hirthi days and anniversaries were cel- ebrated along with a reluctaîit farewell to the "Jones farlily" in Bowmanville who are r; turning to England to set up residence.
