Safe Trailering It's the. time 'of the year again when many of -the cars on the. highway will, be- towing trailers behind them. Towing is tricky and it requires special driving skills. Double check your car, trailer and load before moving. If you want to pass another. vehicle, mnake sure there is enough time and room for the manouver. You cannot accelerate as fast xheii you arc towing a trailer. When you 'have passed, allow more room before, you move- back to your lane. Cutting in and swerv- ing could cause your trailer to swing and sway. When towing a trailer, always remember to keep a greater stop- ping distance than usual, between your car and the' one ahead. A sudden stop could jack-knife your trailer or shift the load. Make sure that your trailer is in safe operating condition and that it is attached by a safety chain in addition to the regular hilch. Bicycle Safety The OPP Accident Prevention ficer will be attending many hools in the area, conducting, cycle safety checks 'as 'Part of program for safe cycling. Each cycle inspected will be given a icycle safety check card, indicat- ig ail mechanical defects. You -le parent can help by making al ecessary bike. repairs, teacli bedience to traffie regulations,' nd by your own actions in traf- ic set an example for your child.
