On Monday December 12, 1972 school rings were put (en display in the showcase in the front hall of our school. These rings are only on sale to the gradi uating studits and come in sil- ver or gold. Their prices range from $16.,. to $32. and they feat- ure a stone in the centre of the ring with Clarke's crest on eii%-er, side. They are very nice if you like large rings. 1Despite tq- had weather of Tuesday the buses were able to get through and pick up the sttu- dents at 4:15. There, was a slight delay because of the bad roads but everyone got home safely. On Wednesday the, gymnastics club had their regular gathering. There are a lot of members and it looks as though the club will do very well this year. Ail the grades, excepting Grade 13, are having' group guidance. They re- ceive their books on courses. ln January they will have to fi out their option sheets.. These sheets are a list of the choices of sub- jecta that they desire for next year. The sports report at this' time of year is very sparse because the only really active and com- peting team is basketball. On Thursday both the senior and junior teams had a game against West Cobourg, Despite mucli ef- fort both teams lost. Christmas is advancing very quickly and soon it' will be here. On Friday a group of boys brav- ed the cold and went out to- get the Christmas Tree, decorate it, and have it for our Christmas dance and Christmas program on the last day of schogl. This addi- tion to oui' school helps to add thé festive touch to ail our act- ivities. Diane Barnett Junilor Gardeners Despite the snow and freezing ramn, many enthusiastic Junior Gardeners and their parents gathered together ini Orono Un- ited Church on Tuesday, Decem- ber l2th, 1972. With everyone sitting around candielit tables,, carols were sung and various Juniors presented a Christmas Programme., Those taking part were: Frank Zegers- "Sulent Night" on a flute. Danny Zegers "Hark the 11cr- ald Angels Sing"l on a mouth organ. -Elza Vogel recited a poem, "Finding Jesus". Martin Bockee ' read a story, "Christmas Glory" Debbie Coivin played a piece on her accordian and Diane Col- vin played "The First Noel" on the piano.1 Danny Zegers played, "Breathe on me breath of God" and "Whev, I Survey the Wondrous Cross' /J his mouth organ. Karen Atkins playcet "Hymn Tune" on'a flute. At the close of the programme Mrs. Zegers annoljnced the prize winners in the Christmas Show which was judged by Mrs. Chapman. Classes were: Olass 1: Place Vavour ri de with cones and nuts Class 2: Christmas Table ýAr- rangement. lass 3: Handmade Christmas Card. Class 4: Juniors' Notebooks. Debhis Colvin presented Mrs. Chapman with a Ijttie gift for judging, the Christmas show and Janette Tansley presented Mrs, Touchburn with a gift for play- ing the piano during the evening. Cake and ice cream was served to everyone followed by a draw for prizes donated by Mrs, Chap- man. Wi nners were Melanie Cow- an, Kelly Hall, Jimmy Vogel and Donna Colvin. The Christmas part brought the Junior Gardeners' year to a -close Mrs. Zegers thankcd everyone who had given help to the -club and had donated mpizes during the year.
