I said the dear ladies should net have gene te ail this bether, just for me, but on further investigat- ion I found the box full of fresh bon-bons. 1 seem te be the mest popular boy on this street. Onlooker Cla rke High School News Such beautiful weather made it pretty bard for the students of Clarke Hîgh te study. But they did and they're motivations was that there is only 16 dayg of school lef t. On Monday, May 7, 1973 tbe track team practised for tri.-school wbich was held on Thursday. t was really good te see these students working se bard for their school. On, Tuesday we hbad the great plea sure of being visited by tbe Leaside band and choir from Toronto. Tbe band play- ed a few numbers and then the ail girl choir sang for us. The band finished the concert off witb some modern tunes. I think that the students of Clarke really appreciated the concert and it gave Clarke's band a little motivation te try The Orono Junior Gardener s meeting, in the main hall of the cburch, on Tuesday May 8 was in the form of a workshop. Werking at tables, formed into a square, eacb girl and boy was given three cacti, potting soul, charcoal, pebbles and shalles and guided by Mrs. Zegers, planted the cacti in containers whicb they bad breugbt. Originally, they were te bave used fisb bowls or rose bowls, but when the cacti arrived, they were larger than expected and were net suit- able for those so flatter dishes were used. These cacti are te be exbibited at the summer show. Visitors at the meeting were Mr. and Mrs: Dilling, from Bowmanville who are in charge of the Junior Garden- er's there. They were asked te mnake draws for the door prizes, winners being - Fredd- ie Boekee and Jimmy Vegel pets of Johnny-jump-ups and Donna Colvin a bouquet of mixed flewers. Mrs. Zegers announced the Spring Flower Show te be held on Thursday May 24, the same nigbt as the Senior show, and reviewed the prize list. harder. The day wasn't the nicest because it rained but track practice went on despite this fact. On Wednesday the students were given a chance te attend Career Expo at Bowmanville High. 1 think that everyone's efforts were really appreciat- ed. The only complaint that I heard was the the Exposition was too crowded. On Thursday thé track team reaiiy showed their stuff at the Tri-School meet held at Bow- manville Higb School. Clarke bas won the tropby 10 years in a row and this year was ne exception. We beat everyone with a score of 440 peints. Our nearest competitor was Bow- manville who ended up with 301 points. Courtice and Cart- wright were also represented at the meet. This meet showed that students reaily can work bar'd and get good resuits if they behieve in the cause strongly enougb. Friday was quite an ordin- ary day. No special activities were planned for this day. Most of the students just concentrated on their scbooi work after sucb an eventful week. More news.next week.
