He also stated that a second net had been purcbased along with other supplies. He wished aIl those present an enjoyable year of tennis. t was also reported at the meeting by the president that Mr. Joe Ordonez would again conduct a programn of instructions for the junior members. This program proved most successful last year with the younger set and many have developed into reasonable players. Interest was most apparent by the younger set and in fact al age groups were well represented at the enrolment on Sunday. O. P.P., News The, Newcastle Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police investigated the follow- ing motor vehicle collisions and occurrences during the week of April 3Otb to May 6th, 1973. Twenty-two motor, vehicle collisions were investigated in which 12 person(s) were injured. As a resuit of these collisions 13 persons were charged with offences under the Highway Traffic Act and two were charged with offenc- es under the Criminal Code. Along wîtb other duties the Newcastle officers completed 83 investigations of which 4 were Break and Enter or attempts of Break and Enter, 4 theft, 1 trespass, 1i bomb scare, i domestic, 4 reports of missing persons, 4 of found property, 2 of lost property, and 5 driving complaints one of which was dangerous driv- ing. Eight persons were cbarged with liquor offences and eight persons were charged with impaired drivîng. A summary of occurrences investigated during the past week are as follow: As a resuit of further investigation into the recent, break, enter and theft at the Mosport Park"control tower, 'one more person bas been charged with possession of stolen goods, and two persons bave been charged with break and enter. More property valued at over '$75.00 was recovered. It was reported that several automobiles were damaged while parked on Hwy 401 in the Wiimot Creek area. This damage consisted of several tires being slashed. An implement worth approx $14,000.00 which was stolen from the area northwest of HOPE GROUP VS. *CPR LANDFILL PROPOSAL A meeting was held in Canton Hall, concerning the Sanitary Landfill proposai at Wesleyville by CPR last week. It was cailed by the H.O.P.E. group, which opposes the proposal.ý Reeve, Howard Quantrill reported that James Auld, Minister of Natural Resources said he would be reluctant to over-rule the land-use bylaw, which would allow the landfl site to be used. Mosport Park has since been recovered.. This implement was driven around the area where it was stolen and eventually collided with an abandoned bouse where it and the bouse burned. Some of the surrounding bush was also burned. POLICE WEEK Police week is being observ- ed May -13 to May l9th inclusive.
