Spencers started off at a fast pace, but soon lost their enthusiasm when 2 goals scored in the first seven minutes of play were disallowed. The first because of a player being inside the goal crease, and the second as referee Tom Campbell and Peter Duck dlaim they neyer saw the puck enter the net. Talking to the spectators afterwards they al agreed the referees must be blind. The first goal scored for the pipebenders by B. Anderson at 17.20of the first period. B. McCllough lit the mark at 6.52 of the second period, giving Partners a 2-0 lead. The third period saw Greg Gray of Spencers score on a pass from Mike White at the .50 second mark. The last goal was scored by Parnter's Ron Farrow at 11.50. Shots on net Partners 27, Spencers 25. ELMHIURST HOTEL EDGE REIDS HARDWARE Goalie George Van Dam stopped 18 shots in leading Elmhurst Hotel to a 3-1 victory over Reids Hardware. The Hardware men who took a 1-0 lead in the first period witb a goal by W. Truil at 17.39 were soon tied by a superb effort of PhilI Fox who scored at 3.58 of the second period. Ron Slack scored what turned out to be the winner at 10.13 of the third period. This put the Hotel men out in front 2-1. Gary Van Dam added the clincher with'20 seconds to go in the contest into an empty net, Shows on net Elmhurst 26, Reids QUEENS BLITZ COWANVILLE Queens Hotel used their own version of the'blitz Sunday ight to beat Cowanvillè Auto Parts in the town league hockey gameat Newcastle Arena. Queens within four minutes, 12 seconds of the second period, scored four times to give them an 8-6 triumph over Cowanville Auto Parts. 1 Glen 'Murphy, top leader ini individual scoring picked up a bat trick and two assists led Queens to their victory. Other goals for Queens a pair by B. Alldread, a pair by B. Rowe and a single by Ray West. Charlie Green picked up three points, one on a penalty shot, along with Fred Alldread, Pete and Paul McCullough were the marksmen for Cowanville. SCOREBOARD Top leaders in individual scoring race àre: Glen Murphy of Queens with 26 points, Bil McCullough 20 points, Sid Arnold and Pete McCullough of Cowanville with 18 points each, and Mike White of Spencers with 16 points. ORONO TYKES DOWNED BY BOWMANVILLE-Tbe Orono Tykes. were defeated 3-4 by Bowmanville on Friday. The tbree Orono goals were by Scott Prescott, Rodney Armstrong and Jeff Mitchell. Assists went to Bob Hutton and Scott Prescott. OROôNO FLYERS DOWN NEWCASTLE 5-1-The Orono Atomn Flyers took a decisive 5-1 win over Newcastle with Warren Nichols scoring two of Orono's goals. Ken Farrow, Kevin West and John Bolton scored the other three goals. Tbree assists went to Steve Stec along with assists to John Bolton and Ken Farrow%. ORONO PEEWEE ATHILETICS DEFEAT BEWDLEY ,1-3. The Orono Athletic Peewees defeated Bewdley in a close game 4-3. Wayne MacLean netted two of the goals witb Ken Evans netting the other two. Assists went to Stephen Haynes, Ross Stutt and Danny Webster. ORONO HORNET PEEWEES SHUTOUT MILLBROOK-The Orono Hornets scored four unanswered goals when they meet Millbrook on Saturday. Marcel Cbarland scored tWo of the goals with Tom Hollinger and John West completing the route. Martin Vissers was credited with two assists and Michael Mitchell one. ORONO FALCON BANTAMS DEFEATED BY BOWMAN+ VILLE-The Orono Falcon Bantams took a 9-3 defeat in an exhibition game on Saturday at the hands of a team from Bowmnanville. The three Orono goals were shared by Bill Hodgins, Larry Haskell and Mike Hollinger. Assists went to Jim Leslie and Doug Hancock. In the second race of the afternoon the first Orono horse sbowed up, Golly's Dolly owned by Glen Tennant. The borse, driven by Derek Newman placed second with the race going in 2.15.2.
