Stevens attended a golden wedding on Sunday afternoon in the city and on Monday afternoon they were at the funeral of a friend, Mr, Webb. KIRBY NEWS The monthly U.C.W. meet- ing was held at the church on Tuesday afternoon with Mrs. Dora Morris filling in for MNrs. Grace Reid, who was sick with the cold. Dora opened the meeting with a caîlIto Worship. What a Friend we have in Jesus was sung with Mvrs. C. Lowery at the piano followed by prayer. Darla Lowery read the min- utes of the last meeting and -roll caîl. Mrs. C. Lowery was going to Oshawa Presbretery for the Treasurer on Feb- ruary l4th. It was announced that the Worlds Day of Prayer on March ist is to be observed in the Anglican Church at Orono. Cards of Thanks were re- ceived from Grace Reid, Stanfey chapman and the Allin Family. Mrs. C. Lowery read the treasurers report in Barbara's absent. Hymn 488 was sung. Nita Ransberry was in charge of the devotion- al and read a prayer foliowed by the Lords Prayer. Nita thien gave a reading given ber b» the late Mrs. Allin, also read the scripture, verses from Mlark, and Mathew. She then closed with a poem. Dora iclosed the meeting with Hymn 298 and the Mlispak Benedict- ion. Lunch was served by Mary It'orrest. Mrs. Ken Bail and Mrs. James Lowery attended thec funeral of Mrs. Harry Cowan on Wednesday in Orono. Miss Janice Rutherford, Toronto spent the weekend at home with her grandmother, while her parents Mr. and Mrs. Sid Rutherford spent the weekend with their son, Dr. and Mrs. Paul Rutherford and family, Listowel, they also attended the Curling Bonspiel while there. There was another good turn out at the card party at Kirby Saturday evening. They had fourteen tables of Euchre with the top prize for lady going to Mrs. Irene Brandt dontated by Mrs. Spry. High man for the evening Was John Switzer, donated by Mr. Proie and MIr. Staples. Low lady was Pat Switzer donated by C. Master Kevini Lowery was a patient in Oshawa General Hospital on Friday having eye surgery. -Mrs. Don Cochrane arrived homne Sunday evening from a holiday in Fiorida. Mn. and Mrs. Doug Hird, Whitby, were Sunday visitors with her parents before ieav- ing for Cuba on Tuesday for a weeks holiday.
